NY REV session in Tel Aviv 23rd-24th April, 2017

Special seminar, April 23rd & 24th, 2017

The Emerging energy and utility environment in the US: Business opportunities from technology, data, finance, policy and strategy.

Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) is comprehensive energy strategy for New York State, aimed at helping consumers make more informed energy choices, developing new energy products and services, and protecting the environment while creating new jobs and economic opportunities.

With bold goals of 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, 50% of electricity from renewables, and a 23% reduction in energy consumption from buildings, along with policy changes to ‘animate’ the market for solutions providers, New York is the prototype for energy under the utility of the future – and it’s happening today.

With fundamental value drivers like high energy and demand charges, the need for security, reliability and resiliency, along with the physical constraints on new central generation and distribution infrastructure, New York is the place where value can be created by generating, using, storing and distributing energy in smarter ways. These business opportunities are concurrently developing across the United States and around the world.

Our guest speaker, Michael Gilbert, has over 25 years experience working in cleantech sustainability and energy for government, industry, startups, management consulting and utilities. He is currently business development manager for one of the county’s largest investor owned utilities, serving over 10 million customers in New York City and Westchester with electricity, gas and steam. In this role, Michael helps develop project opportunities for energy efficiency, demand response, demand management, energy storage, distributed generation, customer resiliency, microgrids and electric vehicles. He is in a unique position from which to interact with building and business owners, technology developers, solution providers, financiers, and regulators.

Michael holds a BS in Agricultural Engineering and an MS in Environmental Engineering from Cornell University, and a MBA from the University of Connecticut. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and Certified Energy Manager, and is a frequent speaker on energy and business topics.
